Silver Palace Rex Build: Volt Charge Loop

Rex is a four-hit Rage builder with a three-step skill chain that turns full Volt Charge into a nunchuck storm. The CBT2 numbers, the passive stacks and the boss lesson are below.

CBT2 data Updated 2 November 2026 · Launch values may differ

Short answer: build Rage on the Composite Club combo — 4 / 12 / 14 / 20 per hit, cap 120 — then spend 60 on Dual Truncheons and 60 again on Extended Truncheon, each adding one Volt Charge. At full Volt Charge, Nunchucks Law unlocks. Thunderous Judgement is the 361.76% ultimate, and Exemplar Enforcer is the 143.25% Tactical Assault.

What is Rex's Rage loop?

Rex runs a two-layer loop. The first layer is the four-hit Composite Club string, which builds Rage to a cap of 120. The second layer is the skill chain: Dual Truncheons, then Extended Truncheon, then Nunchucks Law. Each of the first two skills costs 60 Rage and adds one Volt Charge; Nunchucks Law needs the Volt Charge bar to be full before it unlocks.

The full cycle therefore costs 120 Rage and returns two Volt Charges before the finisher. Because the cap is exactly 120, the chain wants a full bar, not a partial one. If you spend 60 early, you delay the finisher by a full string.

How does the Composite Club combo build Rage?

Each hit has a fixed Rage value: 4, 12, 14 and 20. The fourth hit is the payout, so reaching it is the goal of every string. A successful parry keeps the current combo, which makes parrying the best way to protect that fourth hit. A perfect dodge gives a quick swing worth 10 Rage that can go directly into hit three.

There is also a follow-up route after Dual Truncheons: press the basic attack for a two-hit truncheon attack that grants 15 Rage per hit and reduces incoming damage by 20% during the attack. Holding the basic attack instead performs a dash uppercut worth 20 Rage. Those options keep the bar moving while the skill chain is in progress.

How does the Volt Charge skill chain work?

Dual Truncheons is the entry: a backflip truncheon strike that costs 60 Rage and adds one Volt Charge. Extended Truncheon continues from it, costs another 60 Rage and adds the second Volt Charge. With the bar full, Nunchucks Law becomes available as the finisher — a nunchuck storm with lightning attached.

StepCostGain / value
Dual Truncheons60 Rage+1 Volt Charge; 72.35%
Extended Truncheon60 Rage+1 Volt Charge; 86.22%
Nunchucks LawFull Volt Charge169.32%

The chain is not a combo you can interrupt freely. If you swap out mid-chain, you lose the Volt Charge progress on that character. Plan the three steps as one block, ideally after the boss has committed to a long animation.

What does Thunderous Judgement do?

Thunderous Judgement is the ultimate. At full charge it summons two police dogs that attack together and then calls down a large lightning strike. The CBT2 skill damage value is 361.76%, the largest single number in Rex's kit, and it also refunds 120 Rage — a full bar.

That refund is the reason the ultimate sits at the centre of the loop rather than the end of it. You can fire Thunderous Judgement, get the bar back, and immediately start the truncheon chain again. The dogs are part of the animation and part of the character: Rex's story scenes keep two lightning dogs with him, one of them named Chalky.

How does Righteous Spirit stack?

The passive is Righteous Spirit. When a Signature Move deals damage, Rex gains 7% ATK for 16 seconds, stacking up to four times. The obvious play is to open with Signature Moves before the expensive chain, so the attack buff is already running when Dual Truncheons and Nunchucks Law land.

Four stacks is 28% ATK while the buff holds, but the stacks expire individually. Do not assume the buff is permanent; keep feeding Signature Moves between chains if you want the top end of the range.

How do you beat Rex as a boss?

Rex is the game's first proper boss. He stops the Detective from leaving the police station, and the encounter is designed as a lesson: it teaches parry timing and character swapping. The same tools you use against him are the tools his playable kit rewards.

For the fight, watch the truncheon swings and parry the yellow-ring hits rather than dodging everything. When he commits to a long animation, that is the swap window — bring in a character whose Tactical Assault you want, not just any body. His two lightning dogs are part of the visual language; the ultimate that summons them is also the attack you should expect to see at full charge.

Does Rex play as main damage or break?

He is built as the Fulmen main damage dealer. His Rage is spent on three damage skills, not on break support, and his passive is a flat ATK buff. The break role in a Rex party has to come from another slot, usually a Break Suppressor such as Lorin or Captain Kaboom.

The comparison with the other 5★ damage kits is on the Detective build and Cinderella build pages. Team composition and the Resonance rules are on the team building page and Resonance guide.

Common questions

Does parrying reset Rex's combo?

No. A successful parry keeps the current combo, so you can continue toward the 20-Rage fourth hit.

Can you use Nunchucks Law without two Volt Charges?

No. Nunchucks Law only unlocks at full Volt Charge, which requires both Dual Truncheons and Extended Truncheon.

Does Thunderous Judgement really refund Rage?

Yes. The CBT2 data lists 120 Rage returned on cast, which is a full bar at the 120 cap.

Why does Rex's boss fight matter?

It is the encounter that teaches parry timing and swapping, so the habits you build there carry into every later fight.
